Optimise your CO2 usage without compromising taste
Posted in Sustainability
CO2Sustain is helping manufacturers cut the amount of CO2 needed to add fizz to their carbonated soft drinks (CSDs) and maintain the same high-quality beverage experience that consumers expect.
This is especially needed in times of CO2 shortages but makes good sense even when there is plenty of CO2 in the market as part of a manufacturer’s overall sustainability efforts.
CO2Sustain’s patented additive is a non-ionic surfactant comprising a dispersion of Polysorbate 65 in water and enhances the solubility of CO2 in the liquid whilst also encapsulating each bubble.
This encapsulation makes the bubbles smaller and stronger, prevents them from merging, slows their ascent to the surface and causes them to last longer.
This means that there is less CO2 loss through fobbing both at the time of opening and pouring by the consumer and on the fill-line during production.
Optimise your CO₂ Cut procurement by over 12%
Adding a small amount of CO₂Sustain per litre of liquid allows manufactures to reduce the amount of CO₂ they need by around 12%, with no impact on taste. This saves money, reduces procurement headaches and helps reduce carbon footprints. Alternatively, manufacturers can choose to make 12% more drinks for the same amount of CO2.
It is effective in virtually all carbonated soft drinks, from colas to energy drink and tonics and sparkling water and regardless of their ingredients or sweetening agents, it contains no silicone or preservatives.
Taste tests prove that consumers find no discernible difference in fizziness on pouring or on first taste, even when up to 12% less CO2 has been used in production. The additive makes sure the desired level of fizz remains in the drink for up to half an hour longer, improving the overall experience from first to last sip.
Could you make the switch?
Switching to CO₂Sustain is rapid and straightforward, with no additional equipment required. The additive goes into the syrup tank and requires minimal stirring and no heating.
CO₂Sustain has global regulatory approvals including EFSA, CODEX and GRAS.
We offer free taste trials and will also support full production-run trials, so if you want to make your CO2 supplies go further give us a call on +44 (0)113 465 4601 or if you’re not ready to talk to us just yet, why not download our brochure ‘Less CO2 More Fizz’
